Step Under the Mistletoe With Me?

With Christmas approaching in less than a month it's about that time to stroll the stores in search for the perfect Christmas gifts. Personally I find shopping for the men in my life to be the most challenging. They always seem to have what they want and if they don't they just go out and buy it themselves, leaving everyone clueless to what they will place under the Christmas tree for them. I, on the other hand, have no lack of ideas when it comes to filling out my Christmas Wish List. So for my family and friends who are pondering what to get me this year, all I'm looking for can be found below:

  • One Prince Charming
  • Two mitts with a string attached
  • Three pairs of knee high socks
  • Four inch sparkly heels
  • Five big coffee mugs
  • Six inch pizza sub with tomatoes and cucumbers (from Subway)
  • Seven layer dip from Costco
  • Eight snowflake window stickers
  • Nine flavors of tea bags
  • Ten dollars on a Starbucks card
  • Eleven new black ball point pens
  • Twelve peppermint candy canes

Sooo there you have it, my Christmas Wish List for 2011 :)
Now if only I had a special someone to spend the holidays with... as of recently I am newly single in the city of Winnipeg and while I'm not necessarily on the look-out for a new piece of arm candy I can't help but feel a pinch of sadness when I think about the fancy Christmas parties and activities I may be attending alone this holiday season... Regardless, for a new opportunity to present itself sometimes it takes an old one to end... Who knows, maybe I will get my number one wish for Christmas after all! I feel like I've been pretty good girl this year (;

As well as being good, i've also been very creative with my newly found spare time! So far my decorations for Christmas are based my apartment living room, a few touches of ruby red and silver, sparkles and glitter. I am truly lucky that my roommate doesn't mind my crafty love as long as the space is livable and comfy.

Thank goodness for the Thrift Store close to my apartment. I've totally lucked out and found really neat things that i've been about to somewhat make look Christmas-y!
I've also promised myself that I would stick to a small budget when shopping for friends this holiday season so this is my work space (kitchen table I recovered and painted) where most of my artistic magic happens :)

Twinkling City Lights

Yayyyyy! A new post! About flippin time too :]

So things have been kind of crazy lately.. moving into my new apartment in Winnipeg, starting up university again, packing/unpacking, spending too much money, DIY decorating to the maxxxx, friend issues and the over-loving, anti-"cut the cord" Baba that loves leaving me 7 minute long voicemails any chance she gets. So with all that said please understand :) ..not that people comment *coughcough* IF people actually read this please feel free to comment because I never know what the hell to write on here, and i'm a nerd at heart so who knows if my blabber even interests people. Either way. Bad or good (but hopefully good!) comment :) Thank ya darlings!

SOoooo on with the show!

First things first, I will now try to update you on all my moving in, DIY projects and decorating mumbo-jumbo. There's alot so for sure i'm going to miss something and have to add it in later.

The apartment building is pretty packed with families, which at the time of rental decisions I thought would be good. Families = safe (as in no crazies wondering about the hall ways, bad guys crouched down in the bushes or evil people who steal the gas caps off cars). As far as I have seen, it does seem pretty safe, none of the above. Instead I am blessed with miniature monsters that smell, leave trails of god-knows what and are usually sticky. Some may refer to these things as children. Sure they can look so cute and innocent but when they have too much sugar and are bouncing from door to door and racing up and down the hallway they are definitely monsters. I guess that's the price you pay for safety. Except I did get my gas cap stolen.. but it's alright. I live across from Mr. Lube and so my Lube guy, Costa, is a total sweetheart and got me a new one in only 15 minutes!

This is what the apartment looked like once I moved all my junk into it (beware, it is a mess):

This would be my bedroom on the left and my roomate (Caitlin) 's bedroom on the right with more of my stuff in it because I couldn't get it all through my ever so blocked doorway haha
She didn't mind because she wasn't moved in for another week or so

Next is the laundry room which I do love because now I don't have to go down to a grundy old basement and hang around for my clothes to wash and dry. Super convenient!

The bathroom! It is the largest one we were able to find while on our HUUUUGE apartment hunting list. A+ for being able to have at least three girls getting ready before the bar in there!

Next is the Kitchen!
Small, Simple & quaint :)

What's in Sydney's Fridge?
Answer: Not Beer. Damn Alex haha

On the left is the dinning room at the end of the two-way kitchen, and on the right we have the ill-lit living room with a sweet-ass balcony (3rd floor up) to top things off a fireplace was also included. And it actually works! Bonus :)

So yeah. That is what it looked like for that entire weekend pretty much. Then I started taking it serious and did one room at a time while Alex slept on the floor in the living room haha. I started with my bedroom:

My aunty gave me alot of her old furniture that she was going to give away anyway.
That included the white headboard.. what was covered in spotted cow print tape courtesy of my youngest cousin :) Thanks Mitch, it was real festive. So after removing the tape and having the cow spots stay on the frame I felt I had no choice but to paint!
So I went with silver, just something I had lying around. Never know when you're going to need it for some fun arts & crafts or DIY projects hah! SO much better.

PS MAKE SURE YOU PUT DOWN NEWSPAPER OR GARBAGE BAGS WHEN SPRAY PAINTING....It would sure suck if you got that stuff all over your patio.. la de da de da... 8)

A
The finished bed result. Its small but it works. Plus it was free so I can't complain!

More DIY projects and After photos to come! :)

Moving Day!

Good Morning All :)

So i'm just laying in bed with my best bud Kelsey....

Maybe not the best angle but oh well haha

...anyway, so  these are my last few hours in The Pas before I get on the road to Winnipeg!
My goal/plan is to leave by 10am, not sure if thats going to happen since its already 845
and  i still have some small packing to do, i stilllll need to get out of bed and shower too!
Ahh! too bad i ran out of my dry hairspray... then i wouldnt even bother showering!
haha i love that stuff!

so yesterday I went for a much needed manicure.
It wasn't as perfect as i was hoping, there were still many hangnails to be seen,
but I decided on getting this fancy lacquer polish that is said to be unbeatable.
It has already chipped a bit but in all fairness i was doing yard work and picking
stones out of the weed wacker head and packing all day. either way they look MUCH
 better then before!

The polish was called Hollywood and it has this really pretty golden sparkle to it.
Then I got two tiny clear rhinestones added in the corners of two of my nails :)
I hope they live through the unpacking part now!!

Not sure when i'll get a chance to post next since I haven't set up my internet at my apartment yet but maybe i'll go hang out in my favorite Starbucks one night soon :)

Happy September!

Last Day = DONE!

So as I mentioned in my earlier post, today was my last day of work!
Sad to say good-bye to everyone I worked with though... and the bi-monthly paychecks,
but *fingers crossed* i'll be back next year! :)

Good-Bye Stinky Mill!

Annnnd some more random pictures in the parking lot haha :)

I'm so cool.. not. but whatever :) I'm a nerd at heart and i love it!

Also canNOT wait for my manicure tomorrow morning! My poor fingers are so cut up and have hangnails on top of hangnails... its pretty nasty.. by tomorrow at 11:20 I will have puuuurtty nails.
Not sure what color yet though...
maybe red!
Then again a nice deep color would be nice for fall...
i've fallen inlove with this look too!

Guess I'll have to wait and see what I feel like because at
 the moment this badly chipped, dark navy crap I
have on is definitely not cutting it for me!

Until tomorrow,
Boa Noite

Good-bye Summer Employment... HELLO ONE DAY OF FREEDOM! :)

So today is my offical last day of working at Tolko as a summer relief student in the HR office.

Honestly... I don't want to leave...

I work with AMAZING people
I get AMAZING paychecks
& I enjoy the steady flow of work..
makes the hours flyyyy by..
most of the time anway :)

But for now its good-bye Tolko.. hopefully I will return next summer!
I have a good feeling that I will, but I dont want to jinx my chances :)

Next I have to pack and drive six-seven hours to my new apartment in Winnipeg where I will be unpacking for days, then heading to school next week!! So exciting. I love school! New notebooks are my favorite :)

BUT... Since i'm done work today.. and I dont leave for Winnipeg until Friday... I have ONE DAY to create something utterly fabulous. And i've found it. Its brilliant & lovely & happy & pretty.

There it is! :

MELTED CRAYON ART!!!!

Eeeep I cannot wait! It looks so pretty and summer-time lovely. Plus it also looks easy!

If mine turns out (and maybe even if it doesnt) I will upload a photo.. I know I've promised that before regarding the rocking chair for my Baba, but in my defense it's been raining  an awful lot here which makes it damn hard to paint outside :) excuses excues... maybe i'll work on the rocker tomorrow too!

Either way I will be creating some sort of crafty thing tomorrow, along with packing up my life into as few boxes as possible... so like 23 boxes and bins haha. It's going to be a crazy next few days!

Enjoy your last day of August! Crazy how fast summer zoomed by!

I Must Be A Psychic... Theres No Other Explaination

So this past weekend I went up to Clear Lake with my Best Pal Kelsey and her family, who are really really amazing by the way. We stayed in these super cute cabins that her grandparents rented for the weekend.

We went horseback riding and swimming. We played mini golf and walked the pier. We ate ice cream and bought half dozens of homemade cinnamon buns. We also did a bit of shopping and played a few card games. All in all it was a great weekend!

After swimming for the 129231403891012938 time, we decided enough was enough.
Time for slippers, beers and a good ol' game of cards.
(This was taken on the way to the card game, in front of my little orange Jeep!)

After all the hustle and bustle I was completely beat on the 4 1/2 hour drive home so I stopped and picked up one of those fancy energy drinks... then I stopped again about two hours into the drive for a second energy drink. I wasn't necessarily bouncing off the walls but I certainly was not yawning any longer.
But by the time I arrived home I was exhusted all over again. After washing my Jeep off, filling up wtih gas, dropping off Kelsey at her car (which she parked in front of my house since she lives another 30 minutes away at the lake) and brought all my bags into the houe I was ready to crash into bed. I gave my boyfriend  Alex a call and we talked for an hour or so.. but after I hung up I was sooo not tired. Instead, I was really shaky and whenever I even closed my eyes I would start having vivid dreams about Kelsey and I driving home from Clear Lake in my little orange Jeep but the endings always varied. Sometimes I would take a corner too fast, lose control and start to roll, other times construction signs had blown over and I didn't see the large dip coming and flipped my Jeep. The endings continued to get worse until I gave up on sleep around 3;00am.

Thankfully Alex was still up and we talked on the phone until around 5:00 am.. then I realized i only had an hour to sleep before I had to get up for work...  So after my rather quick "nap" i was up and showered and combing my hair while checking Facebook to see what updates i missed while i was Not sleeping.

After blinking a few times and wiping the disbelief off my face Kelsey's newest Fb status clicked. She had been in an accident that night while driving from my house to hers. She was hit on her side by a large deer and with little to no cell service out where she was struck she had to continue driving to her house alone.

Now, I dont know if i'm just connecting two dots that shouldnt be, but it does seem rather odd that she had an accident and all night I continually kept dreaming of us having an accident. Either way I am just glad that she is okay. Unfortunetly we can't say the same for her poor little car. It is being towed in this afternoon to town and the damage is going to be assessed. Kelsey is hoping that it gets written off so she can start looking at a newer car, but at the same time, she is suppose to be driving back to school in Lethbridge this Saturday... hmm.. maybe I can convince her to come with me to Winnipeg to help me move in? haha I doubt it but its worth a try!

Who can pass up the opportunity to take a photo with the Weenie wagon haha! NOT ME! :)
I wish nothing but happy and safe days ahead for everyone!

Road Trips Rock!

Okay so today was a MUCH better day.

For starters, I was able to sleep in an extra 15 minutes and finish my good dream.

Then while in the shower I stumbled upon a brilliant idea of what to wear today!
(Sorry no pictures, I was too sweaty by the time I got home to even bother with a photo)

Then I managed to curl my hair and apply pretty makeup in an
acceptable manor while still half asleep.

I even had enough time to pack a decent lunch and make myself a
super quick yet delicious breakfast :)

Work was even... dare I say it... fun?
I was in charge of taking pictures of al the
summer students at Tolko and writing up  a
small article about our experience. Plus I got to
hang out inside the mill which surprisingly I quite enjoy.

Now I have finished my packing for the amazing weekend ahead of me!
I am going to clear Lake, MB for the weekend with my best friend in the whole wide
world ever and her really sweet family. I feel so lucky that I get to tag along with them
because other wise I would have just stayed home all weekend and cleaned/packed for
my nearing move to Winnipeg, MB.... ugh i'm slightly dreading packing... my room is such a mess right now. I have finished my laundry but there is still stuff EVERYWHERE! It's nuts!

So for now I don't have anything else that is too exciting.. no pictures or anything.. but I have packed my new tribal print dress for the weekend so i'll be sure to take a few pictures of us at the beach.. shopping on at the little boutiques and sipping our wine on sunny patios!

(This picture was taken at one of the top three clearest lakes in the world.. and it turns out I only live 15 minutes away and my cabin is about 15 steps away.. so beautiful! But very chill! My little buddy sure enjoyed his time at the beach though! The cold water didn't stop him from splashing around.)

I hope your weekend will be filled with fun moments!
Make sure to find time to smile  :)

Is It Friday Yet???

Guess it's just been one of those weeks.. already..and its only Tuesday.. oh boy..!

Good news is I have only one six more days of work left before i'm done for the summer!
Then I move into my new apartment in the city in 11 more days!!
Annnnnd I finally got my Forever21 package in the mail :)

SO I guess life isn't that bad after all...!

This is what I got in my Forever21 package!!!

Yay for Dark Denim :)
So comfy and just enough stretch.. and for only $12?? Who could complain?!

Wicked stretch Tribal patterned dress!
So fun to dress up or down in!!!

You can NEVER have too much lace or old school floral print in your wardrobe <3
Likewise goes for rings, shoes and feathers!

Fun Fact: I took piano lessons for EIGHT years :)

For some completely awful reason my favorite purchase just will not upload so here is a picture off the website. Looks just as beautiful! I can't wait to make use of it in a few short weeks! Eeek!

So there you have it.
My first Forever21 haul,
and with hopefully not too many
more to come you will enjoy
these posts while they last!

Also, I did take a picture of my outfit over the weekend.
It's nothing special since I just helped my Baba set up for her big lunch by moving around tables, chairs and HUGE pans of lasagna.. mmmmm she sure knows how to cook! :) I love my Baba's cooking!

The color is a bit off in the first pic. But you can't see my highwaisted black ripped up shorts in the
second picture so I thought i'd add both.
I love high waisted anything! Too bad my boyfriend is not a fan of it haha. oh well. what do boys know about fashion anyway!

Thanks for reading :)

Don't Forget the Extra Butter!

No time for a post last night, I was mighty sleepy after work and supper/drinks with wonderful ladies and gents. Took forever to get our food though, good thing we had a strong supply of alochol to keep us occupied!

Today hasn't been that exciting. Just working. Blah Blah Blah..I did get to wash a fake plant tho!

But it is the plans for tonight are what I am excited for!!

A few pals and I have planned to attend a
double movie at the good old Lido Theater tonight.
I just love going to the movies.
Whether it be on one of those awkward first dates where you both continually move your hands closer and closer to the other person, not knowing who should make the first move or not. Or even just going with family and friends. Either way its always a good time, especially when there is popcorn involved!

 I can remember when I was really young, my Baba took my little sister and I to see Casper. (Rememberrrr the friendly, little, white ghost?)
Anyway, we got to the theater just as the movie was about to start and the lights were already off. From what we could tell the theater looked packed to the max except for the front few rows. So without a doubt we all sat down in the very first row, got all comfy and ready for the previews to finish up when out friggen no where that damn little white ghost popped onto the hugh-ass screen and scared the jeepers out of us. There was drinks spilt and buckets of popcorn flyyyying EVERYWHERE!!! Oh did we ever make a mess. Needless to say we moved down back a few rows to avoid getting into trouble for the mess.

But tonight such a great movie line-up including Bridesmaids and Bad Teacher!
(Both of which i've recently seen already...but it doesn't matter because they are both SUPER FUNNY!) I can NOT wait!!! I've pretty much been smiling all day just thinking about it haha

Such a fierce photo; I hope my wedding has epic moments like some of the ones in this movie!

Just a few more hours until i'm seated beside my best friend, KP,
with an extra large popcorn (smothered in extra butter) wedged between us
and a diet coke in my hand. Then it will officially be the weekend baby!

..."it's the freakin' weekend, baby i'm bout to have me some funn!"
(Damn songs been stuck inside my head ALL. DAY. LONG!)

This movie makes me want to be a teacher.
It also makes me hope I look as wicked as she does when i'm her age!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Saturday will be an amazing night as well. It will be one that I really do wish my friend, who is leaving for the city today, would be here for! She is such an outgoing lady who really likes to have a good time.
One night we were all hanging out before going out and I kind of invented this card game.
It was not very good but for some reason, at that time and place, it was so funny.
HEART OF FIRE!!!
Good times, good times.
Pictures WILL be added of this weekend,
but don't count on a new post
until Monday night.
(Not that I really have anyone waiting up for an update haha)
Anyway, enjoy your weekend as well, crazy how it is almost the end of summerrr. Ahh!
Oh how times flys when you're having fun!
Denying the Undeniable
Okay so some may say that I do have a bit of an issue when
it comes to clothes shopping...but I don't agree.
There's no issue at all - It's just a fun... hobby?
(yeah right, nice try, even I know i'm kidding myself)
Even by taking a look at my closet you can clearly see that
even if I didn't do laundry for a whole entire month,
I would still easily find great outfits for everyday.
Work or Play.
It's an obsession.
I can't help it.
BUT...
...as long as my shopping money does not interfere
with more important obligations...
...such as rent or school,
I think i'll be fine.
:)
Anyway, this all comes down to the fact that I just placed my Forever21 order last night!
I am SUPER EXCITED for this package to, *fingers crossed*, arrive next week.
I'll post pictures of what I bought when I get it!
I even ordered this really cute, vintage-inspired,
floral backpack that I just love.
Perfect for school!
Aside from back-to-school shopping, I have also completed my courses for this coming year!
For some reason everything worked out perfectly and smoothly this time,
THANK GOODNESS!
Not that this is super interesting but...
I've always been very determined to enter a career revolving around
fashion, makeup, decorating, glamour, you name it.
I wanted to work with glitter 24/7 because
I know that I would love it.
&& and I do have a slight knack for that sort of thing.
But reality has got me thinking. Big Time.
I decided I wouldn't mind if I expanded my career interests a tad just to see.
Well well well.. looky what I found...
I discovered that I really love anything and everything pertaining to Criminology!
This realization had me so excited I just went ahead and created a whole new course load revolving
around courses that would help give me a better idea of what I might be getting myself into.
Also, after talking to a number of people including my family, friends and my academic advisor.
I have a firm grip on the fact that this very well might be the right path for me.
Yay! A path that finally fits!! :)
It was bound to happen sooner or later!
Now this is in no way a good-bye to all things glitter..
but rather just a change in priority.
Instead of making a career out of fashion, glamour, makeup, etc...
I think it might be better off just keeping that area a hobby for myself.
I would hate to lose the love I have for things like this due to making a career out of them.
I'm not sure whether this post was very interesting but whatever, don't read it if you feel like your wasting your time haha, its just me, day-to-day, how exciting can that even get anyway?
Guess we'll just have to wait and see!
Coming Soon!
Since i'm still really new at this whole blogging thing,
I'm not quite sure what all I want to include in my blog.
I have decided that I want to add a daily outfit though :)
Since I love fashion and dressing up!
My Daily Fashion Fix posts may not be updated on a daily basis, but I'll see what I can do!
Fall's Rolling In - Time For A New Pair of Kicks!
So with the entire day being rainy and yucky out, it got me thinking about what I will be wearing on my feet this coming fall. My very loved boots from last year have been well... very loved indeed. With the worn-out holes along the soles, it makes it impossible to wear them in this kind of wet weather.
So my hunt for a new pair of Fall kicks has begun!
Within minutes on my hunt I had managed to fall in love with a pair of
suede ankle boots that normally I would frown upon... but for some
reason today they seem to be screaming my name and pulling
at my wallet with their lovely fringed details.
Now, for a chick that hasn't even enjoyed the UGG "explosion" world-wide, this feels a bit shocking to even think about, but in all honestly I really do love these boots. All I want to do is slip them on my feet and dance around like a bad-ass rocker chick singing to Katy Rose!
(Who by the way is my current old obsession that has been
re-ignited thanks to some old mix tapes I've recently recovered.)
These boots are just so rustic, rocker, urban chic and comfy! What a perfect combination!
Until I saw the price tag...
$400.00 my ass! No way do I have that kind of money for a pair of boots, even if they are truly amazing! That's almost all of my months rent!
No way,
not going to happen,
dreams over,
hit the road boots....
& dont you come back unless your about $300.00 cheaper!!!
A few seconds later...
Why don't I just find a pair of knock offs! There's bound to be plenty on the net!
A few minutes later...
For heavens sake, nothing compares :( ...
POP!
A brilliant ideas pops into my head. Why not just buy a cheap pair of suede ankle boots. Make sure they fit the basic demands... warm, comfortable, dark brown, good sole, etc...
AND THEN BEDAZZLE THEM!!!!!
So my new mission is to find these basic dark brown suede ankle boots.
From then on I am going to attempt at re-creating my
first loves and see how it goes!
Wish me luck, I'll need it
if I want mine to
look like
hers!
I'll be sure to post photos of my finished creation whether or not it works out :)
