So things have been kind of crazy lately.. moving into my new apartment in Winnipeg, starting up university again, packing/unpacking, spending too much money, DIY decorating to the maxxxx, friend issues and the over-loving, anti-"cut the cord" Baba that loves leaving me 7 minute long voicemails any chance she gets. So with all that said please understand :) ..not that people comment *coughcough* IF people actually read this please feel free to comment because I never know what the hell to write on here, and i'm a nerd at heart so who knows if my blabber even interests people. Either way. Bad or good (but hopefully good!) comment :) Thank ya darlings!
SOoooo on with the show!
First things first, I will now try to update you on all my moving in, DIY projects and decorating mumbo-jumbo. There's alot so for sure i'm going to miss something and have to add it in later.
The apartment building is pretty packed with families, which at the time of rental decisions I thought would be good. Families = safe (as in no crazies wondering about the hall ways, bad guys crouched down in the bushes or evil people who steal the gas caps off cars). As far as I have seen, it does seem pretty safe, none of the above. Instead I am blessed with miniature monsters that smell, leave trails of god-knows what and are usually sticky. Some may refer to these things as children. Sure they can look so cute and innocent but when they have too much sugar and are bouncing from door to door and racing up and down the hallway they are definitely monsters. I guess that's the price you pay for safety. Except I did get my gas cap stolen.. but it's alright. I live across from Mr. Lube and so my Lube guy, Costa, is a total sweetheart and got me a new one in only 15 minutes!
This is what the apartment looked like once I moved all my junk into it (beware, it is a mess):
This would be my bedroom on the left and my roomate (Caitlin) 's bedroom on the right with more of my stuff in it because I couldn't get it all through my ever so blocked doorway haha
She didn't mind because she wasn't moved in for another week or so
Next is the laundry room which I do love because now I don't have to go down to a grundy old basement and hang around for my clothes to wash and dry. Super convenient!
The bathroom! It is the largest one we were able to find while on our HUUUUGE apartment hunting list. A+ for being able to have at least three girls getting ready before the bar in there!
Next is the Kitchen!
Small, Simple & quaint :)
What's in Sydney's Fridge?
Answer: Not Beer. Damn Alex haha
On the left is the dinning room at the end of the two-way kitchen, and on the right we have the ill-lit living room with a sweet-ass balcony (3rd floor up) to top things off a fireplace was also included. And it actually works! Bonus :)
So yeah. That is what it looked like for that entire weekend pretty much. Then I started taking it serious and did one room at a time while Alex slept on the floor in the living room haha. I started with my bedroom:
My aunty gave me alot of her old furniture that she was going to give away anyway.
That included the white headboard.. what was covered in spotted cow print tape courtesy of my youngest cousin :) Thanks Mitch, it was real festive. So after removing the tape and having the cow spots stay on the frame I felt I had no choice but to paint!
So I went with silver, just something I had lying around. Never know when you're going to need it for some fun arts & crafts or DIY projects hah! SO much better.
PS MAKE SURE YOU PUT DOWN NEWSPAPER OR GARBAGE BAGS WHEN SPRAY PAINTING....It would sure suck if you got that stuff all over your patio.. la de da de da... 8)
A
The finished bed result. Its small but it works. Plus it was free so I can't complain!
More DIY projects and After photos to come! :)
