With spring around the corner some may be starting to think about cute new shoes to bring in the beautiful weather while at the same time shedding a tear over the lack of funds in their bank accounts. I, along with many students, am beginning to feel the pressure of saving every penny just to make it through the rest of the school year. I have taken the liberty of hunt down a few cheap & easy ideas to make your last seasons shoes look new again!
These were my top 5 favorite re-vamped shoes:

So without further delay here is my next crafty project for this month. Its sweet & simple yet will hopefully have the ability to inspire some to expand this idea to make it their own.
I started with a cute pair of glittery flats that I bought from Spring on sale about a month ago. They are not the most comfortable pair of flats I have ever worn but I still cannot wait until spring so I can whip them out and actually wear them beyond my apartment!
Then I made a quick trip to Dollarama once again and picked up a spool of light pink ribbon to continue my Fight Breast Cancer & Think Pink themed blog for February. I cut the end of the ribbon into points so to stop it from pulling, then made sure I had the ribbon even on both sides of my foot before beginning. Make sure to give yourself LOTS of extra ribbon to work with. You can always trip up the ends but you can't make them longer!
Then make a simple tie to hold things in place before moving onto the next step of creating a "perfect" bow. This did take me a few tries but I found a pin on Pinterest that really helped me out. Here it is:
They make it look so easy haha but I tried to make the bow like above, without first tying the ribbon, but I found that the ribbon continued to slip loose whenever I moved my foot around. I still managed to get decent looking bows with the small change :)
Now all that is left to do is slip on your shoe and there you have it! Easiest way to change up your boring old flats (not that glittery flats are exactly boring) in a matter of minutes! You can even try this with other pairs of shoes you have. Here are a few of my other pairs that I thought looked cute with the bows.
I only had time to pick up the one color and style of ribbon but if I had more time I would definitely experiment with some pretty lace ribbon. The options really are endless and don't be afraid to test out different textures and colors.
I found the ribbon really creates an old school Mary Jane vibe which i'm a huge fan of. It's a classic look that can be worn with so many styles.
Well i'm off for the night, hope you enjoyed this little idea and good luck on your own creations. Feel free to comment or send photos of your ideas! I've love to see them all :)
